When adults or children have difficulty functioning, their physicians may recommend an occupational therapy assessment. This process measures a person’s participation in activities of daily living (ADLs), which helps to build their treatment plan moving forward.
What to Expect from an OT Assessment
At Enablr Therapy, we encourage all clients to begin their journey to recovery with a professional evaluation. In this initial session, the occupational therapist will observe the client’s ability to do real-world tasks in their everyday environments. They also consider specific skills and abilities that may impact a client’s ability to function, which include strength, vision, sensory processing, memory, and range of motion.
This will take place through a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. Standardized testing may also be used to gather baseline information about a person’s level of functioning.
At this stage, Enablr Therapy providers can make educated recommendations about each client’s treatment plan moving forward. Our therapists always work directly with the client to determine the frequency of care, duration of sessions, and goals of treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
With aging, some people begin to experience difficulties associated with self-care and independent living activities. If your parent is experiencing some of the issues below, it is recommended that you arrange an OT evaluation.
- Their appearance has changed; they seem less “put together” than they normally do.
- Their home seems more cluttered or dirty than usual.
- They cannot keep up with their yard or other household maintenance tasks.
- They are struggling to participate in hobbies or beloved activities.
- They have become more reclusive and are not socializing with peers or loved ones.
If you have observed that your child has missed developmental milestones, struggles to keep up with other kids their age, or needs extra help to complete basic activities, an occupational therapy assessment is recommended.
If you have noticed a decline in your independence as a result of an injury, illness, or aging, you may be a candidate for occupational therapy.
We use validated, evidence-based methods to evaluate each client’s needs. Our fully individualized assessments measure sensory processing, behavioral responses, fine motor skills, developmental progress, visual perception, handwriting, and more.
Enablr Therapy strives to make occupational therapy assessments accessible and affordable. For this reason, we have priced our evaluations at $200 each.
